50 gallon cube Build

That is a really good question! LOL I've read about how to do it but I've actually never done it myself. I just got my Apex this week and plan on hooking it up tomorrow. I've been using Neptune Systems Community for all my questions. Just browse around in there and I'm sure you'll find what you need.

Keep us posted on what you decide to do and good luck.

Well for the time being I'm going to stick with the salinity probe. However connecting a float switch to the apex looks really easy. All you need is a breakout box. That will be the long term solution I think

Good idea both ways... I want to add the leak detection module eventually but momma is not cool with it yet after just purchasing the apex lite. Lol

I was wondering if anyone had any opinions about using the Vortech Mp's in my tank. I would like to know what size and how many to use in the system? Also since I am just now reading about this I was wondering what the huge advantages to these are?

And one more question for everyone... Cleanup crew? What does everyone suggest?

That sumps looks like it fits nicely under there Jon :D. Do you have any more shots of it?

Your definately going to get a lot of opinions on this. Ive used mp10 mp40s and tunze. And i prefer tunze by far. Tunze are cheaper close to same in tank size if u buy newer ones , dead silent , put out better flow, Last longer and have better customer service. My 6105 is blowing sand across the other side of the tank 6' away. Mp40 only had decent flow about 2-3' tops from the pump. Im not sure i see any advantage on the vortechs side besides comming with a controller and being wireless. But u can buy controller and tunze for same or less than a mp10 or mp40 for same gph listed flow. Tunze now makes affordable wave maker controllers that will do all the same stuff. U can also hide tunze pumps in those rocks they make. Tunze u can position just about anyway u want since the pump swivels in the base. Only thing a vortech has is the wireless option. Lets not forget vortechs are noisey unless ran at low speed.

But if you must you will need 2 mp10.

Levels are looking good today so I added my first fish. He is my faithful old clown that has been with me for 4 years now and has survived 3 tank changes. I personally think he is good luck and near indestructible. My plan is to add 1 to 2 fish every 2 weeks until I get a decent number (4-5). After that I will slow down and add maybe 1 a month.

Gmoney243: what do you think about 2 of these with a Neptune apex controller? [h=1]Tunze Turbelle NanoStream Controllable Pump 6095 (New Generation with Titanium Alloy Shaft)[/h]

Those new 6095 wide flows getting great reviews probly to much for a 50g tho. Even tho u can control with apex and just turn down. 2 of those would be good up to a 120 or so. Seen some videos on youtube with those on 120-150s. They run like 2900gph close to my 6105 which is like 3500gph. If u plan to upgrade one day to a 120 id say go for it. But if.not.u may want one of the smaller ones. Like 6045. The 6055 is like same price for.less flow i dont understand that lol but 6045 is 1200gph for $92 each
