I am currently using a 800-gph powerhead in my 50 but i am wanting to keep low flow coral. There is no areas of low flow in my aquarium. I am wanting to downgrade to a 530-gph powerhead. Would this be under doing the flow in my aquarium.

This is your in tank, not return, right?

10× turnover is really low for an in tank powerhead, even for soft coral. Two 530s would be more advisable. More random flow and about 20x turnover.

Yes this is in my tank. The flow from my filter is 250-gph

I have 3000 gph from two power heads in my 50. It ramps up and down so it isn't constant, of course. Flow is highly important.

Would part of my problem be that the flow is constantly 800-gph not ramping up and down.

No. The ramp up and down isn't important, per se. But the uniform direction can be. You want random flow. Two power heads pointed at one another will help generate random flow. That's why I sugguested two.

Keep the 800 and add a 400 or so. Point them at each other.

I was always wanting to have the wavemaket cut on and off to mimic waves in my aquarium like i have seen other reefers do. Could i buy any wavemaket controller and hook it up to my current powerhead.

What powerhead?
Its a sun sun jvp. I think im just gonna upgrade to a Jebao sw4 because it already comes with a controller and it is rated from 120 gph-1000 gph. The power head i already have makes a clicking sound everytime i cut on and off.
