So ive curently got just a 10 gallon now with a clown in it no corals yet but everything is going great. However I was just given a 50 gallon cube. And im on the fence about stocking so thought id bring it before you guys. If it were your tank what woukd you stock it with? I dont care fish only or reef safe. Ive personally come up with about 3 completely doffrent stocking ideas.

You could put a potters angel in there. Great fish

Everybody has different views on what they like. In 15 years I've done several different typs of tanks, from mostly sps to only local wild collected (I'm near the Florida Keys).

If you want easy and colorful, zoas and softies make a good look. And they tolerate a lot wider range of parameters and maintenance than most other coral tanks. And if you like color, many zoas fluoresce under blue leds which looks spectacular IMHO.

Im leaning more towards softies and some other stuff like possibly a nem or hammers or torch nothing crazy.

Along the line would you guys say you woukd stock a 50 cube diffrently than a regular 55 gallon tank. Now I get it has 5 more gallons but as far as there being more linear swim room vs the wider tank can be swam more openly.

This has mixed reef written all over it. You've got your island for some gsp, or maybe some fancy clove polyps. I see at least two different areas for a zoa garden, plus a nice area for some lps. and you have built an excellent shelf for your sps, should you ever drift that way. This tank has some serious potential.

Stocking can be a lot of fun for this build.
You've got:
Generic clown pair
Shrimp/Goby Pair
Royal Gramma
Lawnmower Blenny perhaps?
Maybe a bangai cardinal?
and then your centerpiece - a flame hawkfish.

6 or 7 really fun, really simple fish that are sure to make the tank a huge hit.

Im loving the rock work ill post up some more pics tomorrow maybe. Im not sure if its enough rock. I like the look of a full tank I always lean towards a heavily stocked tank. Im not super familer with hawk fish I know they are a perching fish but aside from that are they out or do they hide?

My long nose is out all the time he perches on my frag rack when I’m working on my computer and watches me. Or he his sitting on my coral keeping eye on all the other fish in my system. The flame hawk is similar and both have a lot if personality.

Cool thanks for your experience on the hawkfish. Im going to see if the mida could mayne move this and I just may make this my build thread. Is the long nose the only hawkfish youve kept?

Yes but it was a hard choice between the two of them, I went with the longnose because it was on divers den at the same time as a possum wrasse that I was looking for my frag tank. If the flame was there instead I would have gone with it.

So multiple wrasses in a 50 cube??? I'm looking a t a yellow coris or melanurus or flashers or fairies???? No not a'll of these just a combination?

Assuming this is a 24x24x20 probably not, most wrasses like length in their tank, but there are some dwarf/micro wrasses which would be just fine I think. Check out the Possum Wrasse or Pink Streak Wrasse. I would also take a read over @evolved ’s thread on wrasses
All About Reef Safe Wrasses as he is the wrasse guru.
