Thanks in advance for the help! So I am still trying to figure out how to set up my new tank, and am amazed at how much things have changed since my last tank, going on 9 years.
Here's where I'm at:
*50 gal seaclear acrylic tank with blue background
*Picked up a current led light with the pro timer- I know it might not be bright enough, but this thing is so cool, and so small if needed I could throw another one on if needed.
* got a aqua c remora off eBay for a good deal.

What's giving me problems is I had planned on using a hob filter, maybe a fluval c4 or something similar. But now I'm considering drilling the tank and having a sump.
I guess what I'm wondering would be first if a hob filter would work well enough? If not and I go with the sump, is there someplace I can get a overflow box made in blue? And then as far as the skimmer, should I hang it the back of tank or hang it on the sump or just sell and get one that can go in tank?
I don't really want to spend a ton of money, but at the same time don't want to buy junk I will be replacing and will have time to spread the cost out as it is going to be awhile before I put water in. Still need to build tank and canopy and am planning to go furniture quality.
I'm guessing most will opt for drilling and a sump, so any advice would be great! My last tank was reef ready when I bought it so didn't have to think too much about what to do. Thanks!!!

While thinking about this, does anyone have a plan or sketch of a diy sump that would fit under the stand, I should have around 33" long x 12" wide and height not sure yet, would like to put an ato in there as well. Thanks
