Hello everyone. I have a question. My led fixture puts out 470 par. Way to much for my corals. I lowered the settings. Now my question is. If I set all channels on 50%.does that automatically halfs the par output?

If "normal" PWM dimming ..mostly yes..it's a wee bit more complicated than that.
50% just means light is on 50% of the time.. off 50%..

There are exceptions..

Thank you. My Goniopora and alveopora like the lower par. I set the fixture to 50% it actually looks nice. It's a 15 kelvin color now. My other lps such as acans don't mind I think. I have no sps

Are you testing with a PAR meter or going off of manufacturers claimed output?

How high is the light mounted? Tank depth? PAR at water level vs sandbed?

It's just a 13 gallon nano
I don't have a PAR meter. For my lights hardly any specs can be found. Aqua medic aquarius 30. I noticed that my alveopora and goniopora were growing but polyps got smaller. At my lfs they gave me the advice to screw down the white leds and half the settings on the fixture. I did read that the 60cm fixture. I have 30cm. Puts out 470 par

It's is 15cm above my tank

Short answer is that it should and the long answer is not really. It really depends on the fixture and how it handles the dimming process.

I can adjust every led from 1 to 100
