I installed a closed UV system for my tank, but because of head loss, and 3/4 bottleneck. I couldnt get more than 500 gph on that UV. My system is 200gs after rocks, and sand it rounds up to 150G. Is 500 GPH bad to run on such a powerful UV. I checked pentair and aquaultraviolet. Pentair showing higher gph. And aquaultraviolet showing crazy higher gph as well. Is it safe to run 500 GPH? I want it for water clarity. And algae.

You would need a higher flow rate to keep up with algae due to how fast algaes multiply.

As mentioned above, 500 gph through a 57 watt UV will be great for reducing parasites or other multicellular organisms that replicate/reproduce slower.

I run mine at 500 gph and feel like I have better water clarity but still have to clean the glass every couple of days.

Well the issue is my uv is running on a closed loop. Meaning i have pvc tubing running as an intake and outake from the display tank. And the pump sitting in my sump just for the space not sucking anything from there. Theres head pressure loss, and also there the 3/4 on the outtake bottlenecking it. So the maximum i can run is 500. And if i put the pump at maximum speed i get 570 gph. But that would make more noise. Lol. But yeah. If it kills parasite thats cool too i just want use for it

Indeed it is. Generally you'll find having a UV leads to much clearer water, less nuisance algae outbreaks and more peace of mind. I'm running my 57-watt at I think around 633Gph (best estimate), so 500Gph isn't that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things.
 
500gph is fine with increased contact time. Most people get oversized uvs to run slower gph and increased contact time.

I can max out the pump speed and get 570gph.
