So I have been back and forth on peninsulas and flat back systems.

Looks like I’m moving into a house later this year Once I can close.

decided that redsea 525xl @ 60”x22.5”x22 is my best choice for placement

Any recommendations is welcome
This will be a Mixed reef

Equipment :
3x Hydra 32s
2x Mp40s or reefwave 45
varios 6
Varios 2 for UV, and reactors
25Watt UV aqua
Redsea 600 skimmer
DUETTO ATO

Will use new sand , old rock & water that’s 6m old

FISH STOCK :

2 clowns
4-6 green chroma
Yellow tang
Purple tang
Yellow eye kole
Diamond goby
Six line wrasse

Biggest concern is the WAVEMAKERS & the yellow & purple

Would I be better off grabbing redsea or Mp40s

Would I be better with Tomini tang, yellow, and kole or the purple & yellow

I personally would go with the MP40s just because I like the standard style of wavemakers plus you could have these and your lights all on one app to control. But I would just look into a standard wavemaker vs a gyre wavemakers to see which would fit your liking better as there are pros and cons to both.

Rest of equipment looks pretty good. You decide on heaters?

As for stocking it looks good besides the tang. I would definitely only choose one of the zerbrosoma tangs, the yellow or the purple. Both being from the same species, aggression is most likely going to occur which is not good.

Also you should not go with the tomini and kole as the same issue pops up with them being in the same family and shape. This will most likely result in aggression. I would stick with one of the zerbrasoma tangs, one of the bristletooth tangs, and either leave it at that or pick up a different tang from another family.

I personally would do two tangs plus a foxface in that size tank.

Thanks for the response !
I’m leaning towards Mp40s. I want to run SPS on top and mixed reef on the bottom. 2 Mp40s should be enough I think

I was thinking 2 BRS 300watt heaters with the inkbird as any other heaters have failed me lol, they over heat or don’t heat to the right temp even being sized properly

For fish
I was considering a fox face with the kole and yellow tang. That sounds like a better choice.

I want the yellow tang , kole with third being powder blue or blue tang as my wife loves those but I am worried ab them outgrowing the tank fast. But i have seen plenty of people have blue tangs in 4’ for many years.

If I could get 3-4 years out of a powder blue or blue tang in a 5’ then I would consider it

I have a 625 xxl and use 2 red sea gyres because I can put them on the back wall in a vertical position which looks way cleaner than mp40s. Also I can adjust the direction of flow in two different directions on each one. Easily controlled with their app as well.

Yeah the mp40s sound like a good plan, you can also add another one later on if you are not getting the right flow.

The foxface, yellow, and kole sound like the best idea.

Although the blue hippo and pbt can be in that tank for some time, its not really the best of ideas. Once you get it, you will become attach to it and you want want to give it back and rehome it after a couple years. Plus the pbt can become very aggressive with your other tangs. I personally wouldnt risk this.

Agreed, wife wants a fox face too so can’t complain there . I heard they’re poisonous

Any reason you went 625 over 525?

I have a 525XL as well. I have a Foxface, Purple Tang, and a Tomini. Before I got the Tomini I had a blue hippo but had to rehome as it grew extremely fast.

they are venemous with the top spines. But it’s not major where if you get one of the spines in you, it will just sting not much affect on us. Plus they arent Aggressive and will stay away from you when you are in the tank.

So I’m looking at XR30s on the tank instead.

If I did the 525xl & a mixed reef would 2 be sufficient

Would 2 be enough if I went the 625xl route

I think for 525xl you can definitely do it, 625xl maybe pushing it
