Hi all, I am brand new to this site, I have been on other reef sites for years and figured I would give this community a try. I have a 54 gallon SPS tank and am trying to upgrade my sump and filtration. But those of you familiar with the size and shape know how difficult it is to get something substantial in there. I am thinking about building my own triangle sump to maximize capacity, but I am curious from experience if anyone has an other solutions I may consider before jumping into this build. Thank you in advance.

Ten gallon tank fits perfectly along one side.

Before I upgraded I was considering getting two acrylic boxes made, one being the dimensions of a 10g, the other half that footprint and connecting them via bulkheads and and pvc 90° fitting.

I know, I actually planned on making a 10 gallon L shaped tank with 2 10 gallons, but i figured if I am going to do that, I should just make it a triangle. It stinks how limited this tank size is.

For my old 92 corner I designed an L Shape sump . Fit and worked flawless .

For space under the cabinet I wish I had a 92 corner. I mocked up an L shaped sump that would ideally work, but I figured with a triangle shape I can hold more water, and add more equipment. I am really just trying to get a fresh perspective and new ideas, but even Google has limited solutions for my questions. I appreciate everyone's feedback, but it almost seems this thread (moved of course) will turn into a triangle sump build thread pretty soon. :-)

I am in the same situation with a 54 corner tank and stand. The biggest "stock" sump I have found that will fit is a Skimz UP14. It is 14 x 18 and will barely fit. I have a very rough design of a triangle sump and have 3 quotes to built it from $280 - $580.. Not sure if I will go for the custom triangle or a stock sump yet. Here's a picture of my design. What do you think?

I am going to pick up one of these tanks and was wondering what you ended up doing?
