54 wt miro retro kit with 24wt bulbs?

If I buy a 54wt (4 foot) miro retro kit and adjust the length to fit a 24wt (2 foot) bulb, is there any harm done?

I'm not an electrician but I'm assuming as long as I stay under the recommended wattage that it's ok.

Planning on adding a pair of T5's to my maxspect razor.

Pretty sure the wattage would kill the bulbs if not something worse.

Why not get the 24in kit?

I just figured buy a bigger size in case I upgrade tanks.
