I had a serious cyano out break and hair algae. I have two hang on back filters, one for 125 gallons and one for 75 gallons. I was also using a small power head rated for 425 gallons per hour. I thought this was fine and everything was and is doing great. The only problem was the algae. I decided to place the small pump in my biocube and take advantage of my lfs sale and bought a different power head. It's an aqua top CPS-24. It's rated for 3,170 gallons per hour. All of my cyano is gone along with hair algae. It's been gone for about 2 weeks now. Is my increase in flow responsible for the algae leaving? Before I had maybe a little ripple across the surface and now I have this

It's like 15 waves that constantly crash on the other end of the tank.

Couple things. Yes its possible the flow was your issue. I've never seen anyone keep their tank that low. There is also no need to have the powerheads pointing directly at the surface. You don't need to keep the directional ends on the powerheads, did you try them without it first?
If your going to use them, even them out some, no need for them to point that high.

I tried without and didn't like it. And I find that position best. Doesn't blow sand, plenty of flow at mid level, and a Ton at the top. High flow corals at the top, medium at medium, and low at the bottom.

I hear ya. Gotta be alot of flow, I use 2 of those in my 240g tank. So I know your is a wind tunnel.
