55 gallon reef plans

So I’m planning on doing a 55 gallon reef tank and so far I have a 55 g tank and a 20 g tank that I’m go to turn into a sump and I have my return pump so my plan is to drill the glass and put a 2 in bulkhead for a overflow and a 1 in bulkhead for the return but I also want to have a 5 g tank for my refug and a 10 g tank for frags

For salt water. 55g tank is the worse tank to setup. Very difficult to setup anything in that tank. Not worth it in my opinion.

The 40g breeder is a much better tank.

I will agree to an extent... here is my 55g


I will say its very narrow but the extra length is amazing... compared to my 30g breeder which is my frag tank 36x18x12 I like the extra depth that youd also get in the 40g breeder but it just seems like so much less space. My tangs love zipping all around the longer tank

Do you have a stand yet? The narrow depth of the 55 makes it hard to fit anything larger than 10g sump unless you're building a custom stand. Also what kind of overflow are you going with? The bigest mistake I made with my 55g was only drilling one whole for my over flow.

I believe 35lb? Not 100% I've taken and put rock in so who knows haha i started with half live rock and half base... all of it was from BRS

the rock? Rock was around $150 i think again not 100% sure
