it will probably leech chemicals from soap for awhile...

What soap was in the drum. It can make a difference. If it was industrial with degreaser, then maybe not. If it was body wash like at the gym then no worries. What you want to do is triple rinse it with a very strong spray. Let it dry. Then rinse it a 4th time.

I wouldn't do that at it might release chemicals which might not hav been washed.
