I have a standard aqueon 55 gallon tank that I will be converting to a sump. My question is this: Can I remove the center brace at the top for more access?

I'm pretty sure it will work just fine and here's why: I will be using regular plate glass as baffles so there will be some perpendicular strength added to the front and back panel. Also, the tank will never be even 3/4 full as it will be a sump.
As you can see I've thought this through but I want to be confident that it will work so I'm looking for real world experience. Thanks in advance guys and gals.

I would think it shouldn't be an issue as long as you don't have it filled to top. But how much will it raise when your pumps stop?i guess best thing would be to test it before hand.

Thanks pondman. I can always test it but if it doesn't work I'll have to find a new tank to use. =|
I guess we shall see if anyone who has actually done it chimes in before I'm ready to do it.
