A 55 gallon wont be a suitable forever home for a yellow tang. As a small juvenile it can grow out, but something around 90-120 gallons would be a suitable forever home.

No. Really don’t think anything under 6’ length is suitable for a tang.

Is it possible to buy them to grow out, and then trade them in for babys?

You see different figures on size. But a yellow tang is listed as needing at least a 4’ tank and at least 75 gallons. They do nicely in 6’ tanks.
