it all depends on your lfs policies but most fish stores do accept that kind of trade.

Look into the dwarf angels like coral beauty - similar behavior to a tang but can stay in the tank for life.

You see different figures on size. But a yellow tang is listed as needing at least a 4’ tank and at least 75 gallons. They do nicely in 6’ tanks.
