I'm new to saltwater so I don't know much about it. My tank is a 55 gallon with a 20 gallon sump, i believe the turnover is roughly 800gph and my tank is roughly 2 months (has been cycled for 1.5 months) I have corals and plan to get an anemone eventually. In my tank I have 2 phantom clown fish, a sandsifter goby, a 6 line wrasse and snails. I really would like a larger fish like a pygmy angel (I think my tank is too small for one though) my mom really wants a royal gamma as well. Would someone help me with a stocking plan?

For lighting I have 2 orbit marine LEDs. What kind of pygmy angel would be good? I personally really like the color on the flame angel but I heard they can be mean once they mature... as for the anemone I'm keeping 1/4 of my rock free of corals for it to move around freely until it sticks

I currently also have a 55 gallon tank but I’ve had mine for 11 months and I have two pigmy angels and they don’t even bother my corals my two favorite angels are the flame angel and the coral beauty which I have both and a good anemone to get would be a rose tip they are good pricing about 50$ and are easy to take care of and they don’t need to much lighting in your tank I have the same exact lighting[emoji23] another recommendation is for a cleaner wrasse or a cleaner shrimp just in case of worse case scenario of ick

That’s my tank in the 7th month a kole tang is also good tang to have it’s pretty and it love eating algae 24/7 for your corals I highly recommend reef roids after I started using these all of my corals became magnificent in color and my Duncan’s and my frogspawn have been splitting its amazing I would never change to any other thing for feeding them I love my tank I have three tangs a blue yellow and kole tang a mandarin diamond back goby 4 green chromises blue damsel 2 perculas one sharknose goby one cleaner wrasse a coral banded shrimp cleaner shrimp six line wrasse flame angel and a coral beauty whole bunch of snails and hermits two emerald crabs for the algae long nose hawk fish and I think that’s it so those are all the fish I have you can get any of those they are amazing fish but other fish would be a purple tang they are expensive but beautiful any anthias are great any clownfish is great don’t get any triggerfish they eat corals and rocks make sure all your parameters are on point and that your temp is 74-78 and keep your tank clean of algae but personally I like to keep he coralline algae so I would keep that and that’s all I got for you

very nice tank... what is that in the background? also how is your mandrin doing? and how long have you had him? I want to get one but i heard they are hard to keep as they need alot of pods that are pre established...

I would buy a way smaller one if I could because myn is at least 4 inches and he is way to big to feed with copapods he is in my opinion way to skinny and luckily myn eats the frozen brine so I got lucky but they are so beautiful I couldn’t resist so if you do get him get a really small one my background is just the coral reef background everyone wants to do things like black or blue but I think the coral reef background looks good it doesn’t distract you from your corals and it looks a lot better

good points on the mandrin, i really like the background as it adds depth, do you remove coraline as it grows or are you going to let it grow?

Oh no I love coralline I just let it grow I wish I had a current picture of my tank I’ll get one tonight so I can show you my tank

Flame Angel would be good. What do you think about Coral Beauty Angels? BIOTA has been breeding captive bred Coral Beauty Angels for a while that are already raised used to life inside of a fish tank.

Your tank isn't overstocked? It sounds like a lot of fish for a 55g!

I wouldn't mind a coral beauty! Their name fits

Yea they are awesome
I've got a lot of questions about your tank! I hope you don't mind.

1. How long have you had the chromis, from what I've looked up, they end up killing each other until theirs only 1 or 2 left

2. How's your blue damsel, I heard they can be aggressive and destroy corals

3. How much algae do you grow to support all the cleaning animals you have (the crabs, shrimps, gobys and wrasses)

4. Don't blue/purple tangs need very large tanks because they swim so much?

5. When you got the coral beauty and flame angel did you add them to the same tank at the same time? Were they small when you got them?

6. Both flame angel and coral beauty require 70g minimum, why can they be put into a 55g?

7. What type of anthias would you recommend? What is the temperament of the fish?

8. Wouldn't a kole tang be too large for my tank? They get 7" and I have a lot more rocks than what's in your tank

So sorry for all the questions but I'd really appreciate any answers you or someone could do!

1 I have had them since I had my tank idk where you heard they kill eachother because they actually school together
2 blue damsel is amazing and again I don’t know where you heard that but they are very peaceful
3 One day my algae was so bad I decided to get a cleaner crew and it just grows very quickly back so they have a constant supply
4 they can’t be together though in the same tank but they can be in at least a 40 in my experience
5 I’ve had hem since the beginning and added at same time so they were both new and not aggressive towards eachother they were about 2 and a half inches
6 personally I think forums say that because for safety I’ve had no problems with them
7 pink square anthias they are mostly peaceful
8 noooo a kole tang usually won’t get bigger than 5 inches I have more rocks bad picture I’ll send a picture tonight
