I have a 55 gallon visio tank that I’d like to drill but am not 100% sure whether or not the back panel is tempered. The glass is 3/8” which has me leaning towards no. I did the polarized sunglass thing (pretty cheap sunglasses though) and they nearly blacked out the led screen behind the panel which I assume isn’t a good sign (I looked at the clock on a laptop screen and could still see numbers), but I didn’t notice any distortions that would confirm the panel was tempered either. Again, really cheap sunglasses so maybe a poor polarization coating? I’ve watched numerous youtube videos and even now I’m still on the fence. I tried calling the manufacturer as that would be the logical move, but they seem to be closed. Does anyone here have a 55 gallon drilled visio? I’m going to grab a polarized camera filter today to see if I get more conclusive results, but running out of options here.

I tried calling the manufacturer again because why not and someone picked up! Even better, the back panel IS NOT tempered!! We have official confirmation. Woohooo!!! Now it’s onto the fun and terror of drilling through maybe my fifteenth glass aquarium to install an eshopps prodigy overflow. It’s a pretty slick setup. The overflow is only half the width of the eshopps eclipse boxes.
