I have taken the bio-wheels out of the HOB!!! I am going to do a 4th water change today.

Hi Corbin:

I have a Marineland built-in filter that I am using in my nano tank. It has been running for about 2 weeks now and I left the bio-wheel in. Should I yank it out? I have three large pieces of LR and have heard so many contradicting stories about leaving them in or taking them out.

I did a search over at nano-reef.com and couldn't get a straight answer. Since your tanks are doing so well, I thought I would ask you. What are the benefits of taking it out? What are the downfalls of leaving it in? I am currently running the stock filter (marineland 12 gallon SW) but have extra flow from an additional powerhead. My tank is almost through it's cycle, as I started with live sand, live rock, and seawater. The levels are all just about normal now.

Thanks so much!
Keri

Corbin and I will be upgrading the lights. We are going from a 4 bulb t5 to an 8 bulb t5 unit over the next month or so. I have to get it approved from the boss.

I will get them in the morning when the lights come back on. I had them on for a short time to look at the frags that Marvin sent me. More to come in the morning!

Wow....looks awesome. Quite the collection of frags you have there already. Now I see why you were busted :)
