Just having a hard time these past two months .
I thought I picked up a used skimmer 160 cone with a busted pump on a local forum .
I got in touch with Luke for a replacement pump and upgraded impeller . It's on the way .
Now it's starting to look like I will have a pump with no skimmer body to put it in ...praying it's not gonna be a INS but the seller is not responding .

Good news is my buds back in NC have been trying to get me a skimmer to use as a temp fix . Two were too big to fit in my sump .
Bud texted me this morning that he is shipping me a Aqua C to use .

.. This berghie has grown quite a bit . They seem to making progress in the QT tank with the rocks I put in there .

Bummer about the skimmer issues. That's frustrating that a local (or anyone for that matter) would sell a broken piece of equipment. Looks like that nudi is having a hay day.

Yah ... it was a weird month . I'll get over it . LOL

I was using the Ecosystem Balling salts but decided to switch to the Tropic Marin Bio Actif Calcium aka Balling Salts . A,B,C .

The Ling Sys stuff was 17.95 for a gallon of each . The Tropic Marin is sorta cheaper 6 x 5000 ml for 46.00 . Should get 10 + months out of it @ 34 ml a day .

I was really surprised the TM mixed a whole lot cleaner than the Eco System salts .. B n C are a little cloudy due to having to heat the ro/di water.

Luke @ Reef Filtration did a super job getting me the upgraded impeller and new pump ..

Just need a body to put it in , :violin: LOL

Interesting on the TM Balling setup. I'll have to keep that in mind...

Also, if that meshwheel were any "meshier" it'd be a dang gridwheel. Love it!

I have an eheim skimmer pump that is interesting . I thought it was a grid wheel but it's just a reversed pinwheel . I am digging the newer dc pumps with the exposed impellers.

Nice clean balling set up! I'm just using BRS 2-part now and dosing manually. I need to get kalk online and automate my 2-part -- I like things to be as hands off as possible. Takes awhile to get there though. Keep it up Buddha.

We'll I finally got a skimmer from a local person . Only 100 miles away and the skimmer had a busted pump . As stated earlier I ordered a pump from Luke @ RF . Now this one really baffles me .

This skimmer is about 3 months + old .

How does this skimmer fit in this box ?

I did contact the seller and they are supposed to refund me .

This was the result. . I have gotten several texts from friends who saw the pic's . I 'd rather not comment on what they said .

The impeller but this part didn't bother me the pump was busted . The pump really isn't busted it's just the impeller and a few other things .

I do have a temp skimmer running now from Coralreefnc ..(Walter ) .

Still working on the aiptasia issue . The Bergia's are doing a nice job . I zapped the big one. Tese two rocks are almost clean . Still trying to figure out how to get them out of the rocks .

Added some more food for them . This Afro need a haircut . Yah , they are that bad which is why I won't do a FTS ..

This was on the door step .. It's not the RLSS I wanted to try but I met the wish halfway .

Got a SSA CS 180 Skimmer with a Sicce psk -1000 pump.
It reminds me of a mini super marin/ JNS knock off body .
The newer curve bodies are cool but I think this pump would be better than a Curve 7 which uses a rock 2000 pump @ 480 lph of air draw .

It also has the option to use a different pump .. The red plug at the bottom of the body .

Vinegar bath time.

It's not an ATB :cry: but if I can get close to your results ... I'll be happy .
It's been a couple of days of tinkering with it . I could always see through the bubbles .
As of today I cannot see through it .
It's also pretty quiet too .Pump mount is padded and the body has rubber feet . A big plus .

The mount and pad . Half the clamp is off for the pic.

As stated earlier I was pleased to see this today .. Very fine bubbles and a thick mix .
It's still early to call but so far so good .
