I just ordered this:

https://www.oase-livingwater.com/en_EN/indoor-aquatics/products/f/filtosmart-60.1000458340.html

For what you ask? Mechanical Filtration for my sump. Its an experiment. Its gonna be mounted externally as a "hob" and the spray bar will be replaced with a return going directly into the sump the same as intake. It will be filled with filter floss only. This is a brackish tank. I wouldn't dream of doing this on a saltwater aquarium. If this doesn't work, and there is a big chance it wont, It will be my QT filter...Until I get some other "bright" idea like the one above. Besides it is not like this has not been done before.

I chose Oase because I have one of their canisters , and all future canisters will be Oase if I ever need one again, they are that good.

ill have it hanging where the reactor is. im gonna line the floor in 2 layers of Seachem Pond Matrix (i get it for like $1 a pound, 40 gallon breeder so I'll shoot for 8lbs, even though its double what I need.)

I mean...power to ya for this but...why not just go with sponges, or a cheaper HOB?

because if I went with a hob on the back of my sump it would take the water from one chamber and drop it in another. I can route the hoses to land where I want.
if I was using a protein skimmer I wouldn’t be doing this.

believe me I am very sceptical about this. Sometimes I think this is a good idea other times I think I’m wasting my time.
