6 bulb or 4 bulb t5 for a 40breeder

I have a mixed reef with a 4 bulb 24" unit right now.
I'd like to add a couple more rocks and some more corals. I'm on the fence of wether to buy a 4 bulb or 6 bulb 36" t5 unit.
Its a mixed reef. What do u think?

IMO, for LPS and softies, a four bulb unit should be fine; six would give increased light for viewing but don't think the corals would need it. For SPS, definitely a six bulb unit.

+1 to what Glenn said also its important to get a fixture with good reflectors and use good quality light bulbs in it.

I'm planning on a nova extreme fixture. They are very decent lights. Then switching out to kz and ati bulbs around MACNA time.
I do keep some sps in this tank

Im starting out with a 4bulb t5ho. Currently it has crappy bulbs, but I'll be changing them out for good bulbs (ati, giesemann) when I finally have my 40 set up. While that is going I'll be saving up and building a diy 36 led fixture.

I have a 40 breeder with 6 bulb t5 36in with 2 led strips I LOVE it chalices and acans look amazing and grow really well!
