6 Line injured by MP10

As the title states my 6 line was in my powerhead doing his usual swimming through small spaces and I didn't notice him in there and the powerhead kicked back on when the feed mode timer turned off! I immediately killed it and he is still alive but one of his pectoral fins is fairly torn up. Will he survive? He is swimming around like normal but it looks like it is a lot more effort for him to do so...what can I do to help him?

Depending on the severity of the damage, it might be a good idea to move it into a separate tank with lower flow and watch for infection. But if it seems like it's doing okay in the DT and is still eating and somewhat getting around, I would just give him time to heal and watch closely to make sure it is healing and there is no sign of infection.

Okay, that is about what I figured but I wanted to see what people on here thought. I just fed them and he still ate like a pig so I may just monitor for a while and see. Thank you!

Why is a body injury worse than the fins? His skin is a little discolored in some places but no open wounds I would say.

You are subjecting fish when body is wounded to bacteria, fungus and other foreign matter

If he looks bad, a bath in methylene blue is a good “first-response” treatment since it is an antiseptic to prevent infection and helps the fish to better use oxygen in the water.

But, if he’s swimming around fine and eating... the stress of catching him may do more harm than good so probably better to just feed vitamin-enriched foods and observe.

Frankly, I would just leave it be. Catching and treating is likely to create more problems than it solves. Fin damage usually heals up, as do skin injuries as long as the fish was otherwise healthy.

You guys have your mp10 on apex? Mine is run through the reeflink. My MP10 does not shut down during feed, Just very low power .
