6 Stage 150GPD Plus Water Saver RO/DI System

Just setup my 6 Stage 150GPD Plus Water Saver RO/DI System to replace my old 4 stage Kent Marine that I have for ever, and I'm getting about 23TDS right before the first DI unit. I think my water is crap obviously. Anyway I'm right around 58 to 60 PSI. Is this reading too high? Do I need a pump on my system to reduce this number and get more efficiency?

On a note, I noticed from turning my water on and off, that my gaskets in this water source are deteriorating as I seen black water when turning back on. I will have to go to home depot and get a new on/off valve. This may be making the water allot dirtier.

What is your incoming waters TDS?
23 TDS after the membrane is pretty bad.
Did you flush the prefilters before running water through them to the membrane?

I have no idea what the incoming water is as my new one didn't have a tds meter there.

I have the flush for membrane. I will run that now.

You should be seeing around 1-4 TDS after the RO membrane if your initial TDS is around 100. You're going to be chewing through resin like it's candy if your TDS is at 23 going into the DI unit.

The RO units require 50 PSI to operate and some people use booster pumps to increase pressure up to 90PSI to increase yield and rejection rates. So no need to mess with your pressure.

The black water is probably from the carbon block if it's brand new and not flushed out. I'd recommend running the unit for a while without the DI and see if that number goes down.

I'd recommend moving your TDS meter to the source water just temporarily to check where it's at. The source TDS rarely changes but it's a good idea to know roughly where you're starting from.

My input water is 304TDS. I"m wondering if that gasket is really gumming up the water, or the water is just that bad.

Yes. I did a 10 minute flush on the membrane. Now its running consistently at 17TDS before the DI. I made about 50 gallons of water and my input source water is saying its at 348.
