Monday I took a trip to That Fish Place with plans to replace the AI prime on my nano tank that’s been a non stop struggle for months now. Then I noticed the deep blue 60 rimless and the fact that I had a coupon for 20% off glass tanks. So, I did the only responsible thing.

I should explain that I already had this T5 from my 75 a few years ago and seems to be in good order still. But this work bench that I built for my mitre saw using plans for a tank stand a few years back is beckoning for this space to be dedicated salt water real estate. So once I find storage for what is already a storage space, I can begin planning the build.

Well the space is cleaning up more quickly than I anticipated 40B9E789-9982-42DB-80DB-6B41F341F943.jpeg

However...

I didn’t even think about the bulkheads being barbed for soft plumbing. Hopefully I Can switch out for slip fittings Tuesday.
I’ll also need to pick up a new tank for a sump.

When possible, progress must be swift and merciless, otherwise nothing gets done. Trial plumbing with a temp sump built at work. Did some work to reinforce the stand. Primary equipment is ready to set up. Dialing in the Durso on the pre installed overflow is a little scary. Its been a while since I used a single overflow pipe. Time to transfer life support from my nano to this tank 0.jpeg

So I set up a small cube, maybe 3 gallons, with an aqua clear HOB as a transition tank but I hit a snag. I LOVE IT!
Its so simple and clean and Sir Reginald (Yellow Clown Goby) loves the low flow and small comfortable space just for him. He's become such a pet fish and really has taken to being the center of attention on the kitchen counter. I had been having issues getting him to eat as well and now he's gobbling up everything in sight. and hes right next to the fridge now ;).

My Zoas appear to be perfectly content as well and their spreading has already begun so maybe ill just keep this as a low maintenance softy tank and a dedicated show case for Sir Reginald.

If anyone is curious about my acrylic cube. It was an acrylic shoe display stand from my a local department store closing.
I was gonna use it as an ATO container but oh well.

That is very cool! I find myself looking at all kinds of objects thinking of how they could be used for reefing.

Last night i finally got to play with my WAV pump and quickly discovered that even on the lowest power setting, pulse mode will build up a rolling wave that is way to much for my shallow 60 gallon.

But I gotta say, this pump is pretty sweet. I’ve never actually owned the eco tech MP series but so far I’m very pleased with the Neptune pump.
