So I just recently started up my 60 cube and I definitely want to do a tang in the tank. The tank is a SPS dominant tank with a few open brains, euphyllias, chalices, etc. I was thinking about doing a white tail bristletooth but I wanted to know what other tang could possibly go in the tank without having to remove it in the future. The livestock will be 4 small bartlett anthias, green mandarin goby, the tang, 2 blacker ice clownfish, cleaner shrimp and other clean up crew. I wouldn't mind doing a regal tang but I don't want to pull it out as it matures in age. Any recommendations?

I think you may have a hard time for people to recommend a tang for that size tank. I think your best bet would for a bristletooth variety or a kole eye tang. I would try to keep the rock work pretty open.

^^agreed! Unless your tank is a swimming pool don't bother asking for tang advice on here, or beware the cruel retribution lol.
I recently read an article on tang requirements, if you search this site you may be able to find it.
As far as tangs go, in that tank just don't go for a unicorn tang or another more open water species and I think you'll be "a" ok! Go for the regal!

^^^^. Yep every tang owner on here is by the book on tank requirements, well at least the reefers that respond to post. Good luck

i want to do a white tail bristletooth since they only require a 70 gal tank and they dont get too large. regals get a foot long and i def dont want that in there being crammed in.

Yeah that's cool, I have a 65gal with a real small tang and what I usually do is trade them to another reefer with a lot bigger tank once they get big

I actually work at a local fish store here in Memphis and can get whatever fish i want but I just don't want to go through the hassle of catching it and replacing it whenever it gets too big.

The white tail bristle tooth tangs are nearly impossible to find. Goodluck, Liveaquaria would have one on there once or twice a year, and they go for a good amount now too. Youd be fine with a cole eye tang or a small yellow, Just make sure they can get in and around the rock work, behind too for hiding.

yea gotta watch the tang police, however agreeded with above, a type of bristletooth tang would be great

Here is a list of what should work
Two Spot Bristletooth Tang
Kole Yellow Eye Tang
Bristletooth Tomini Tang
Orange Stripe Bristletooth Tang - Gonna be a iffy , they get a bit larger then the others and require a bit more room
Squaretail Bristletooth Tang
White Tail Bristletooth Tang

however you can maybe do a yellow tank but be aware that you WILL have to get rid of it down the road as it will get to big as well , they recommend 100 gallons min for one, However you can buy them the size of a 50 cent piece and it will be happy for awhile.

It takes somewhere around 3-4 years for a yellow tang to reach full adult size, By then youl probably have upgraded to a larger tank or dropped the hobby anyways.
