Hello, this will be my first saltwater reef setup. I've done weeks of research on my build. I already have a tank that I have African Cichlids in but wanting to make the plunge into the Salt world.
I also wanted to give myself some wiggle room to be able to upgrade to maybe a 90 gallon if need be. Below is the equipment I plan to use on the aquarium.

The reef tank will be a Softie/LPS mix. Mostly just hardy coral, I am leaning more towards a ULM build but will be monitoring the tank on a regular basis. I want this to be a fun experience instead of a stressful endeavor and I feel a ULM mindset can help pave that way.

PLEASE CRITIQUE THIS BUILD

60 Gallon 12D x 48W x 24H
  • Trigger Systems Rollermat Sump 30
  • 4 Stage Value Plus 75GPD RO/DI System
  • 2 x Kessil A360W-E Tuna Blue LED
  • Tunze Master DOC Protein Skimmer 9410.001
  • 2 x Syncra Silent 3.0 Pump (714 GPH)
  • EcoTech Marine VorTech MP40
  • 2 x Eheim Jager TruTemp 250 Watt
  • Synergy Reef Systems 16"

For the tank itself I planned on going Bare Bottom for my first time around. I am going to go with the same "Textured ABS" the BRS team uses in their tanks.

I did plan on doing a 10-15% water change monthly.

The animal stock for this build has been quite a chore. I wanted a well rounded list that could essentially be left with an auto feeder if need be and still have a great color spectrum. Along with being closest to "reef safe" as we can be. I've read up A LOT on loaded up CUC's and I've honestly come to believe they sometimes do a lot worse than good. So I tried to make the list somewhat around being a helpful/productive candidates.

1. Yellow Tang - Hawaii
(Zebrasoma flavescens)

2. Hoeven's Wrasse
(Halichoeres melanurus)

3. False Percula Clownfish x 2
(Amphiprion ocellaris)

4. Royal Gramma Basslet
(Gramma loreto)

5. Tail Spot Blenny
(Ecsenius stigmatura)

6. Blue Sapphire Damselfish
(Chrysiptera springeri)

7. Neon Blue Goby
(Elactinus oceanops)

Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
(Lysmata amboinensis)

I know I have the Melanurus Wrasse without a sand bed.

The corals I am the most up in the air about. I have constructed a list that I feel I will be most successful with. I want to if possible get away without dosing.

- Richordea Florida

- Zoanthus sp.
Fruit Loops
Orange bam bam
Fire & Ice Zoanthids
Armor of God Zoanthids
Eagle Eye Zoanthids
Clementines Zoanthid
Radioactive Dragon Eye
Rastas Zoanthids

- Giant Green Polyp Duncan
(Duncanopsammia axifuga)

- Alien Eye Candycane Coral Polyps
(Caulastrea furcata)

- Trumpet Coral
Caulastrea curvata

- Hammer Coral
(Euphyllia fimbriata)

- Frogspawn Coral
(Euphyllia divisa)

Thank you so much for looking over my plans. Hopefully you may see an unforeseen problem or maybe a tweak. All responses are welcome!

Thanks again!

Also any recommendations on skimmers would be helpful as well.

Welcome to reef2reef!!
I wouldn’t go with a yellow tang the tank is to small and tend to get aggressive.
Have you looked into angelfish.
