6095 Struggling to Run

I run 2 6095s (old style w/out attached controller) on my reef tank. I have 3 total powerheads and rotate them out to clean them. When I tried to put the recently cleaned one in the othor day, it would stop shortly after starting. It's connected to a 7095 multi-controller.

I've changed the impeller and the power supply, but with the same results. Any thoughts? It seems like it's trying to run but it won't turn over. If I unplug/replug the power supply, it spins for a few seconds before stopping again.

Is the metal shaft firmly in the motor and not stuck in the impeller assembly?

When I take the impeller out, the metal shaft stays behind. I can check how firm it is when I get back home tonight. It didn't seem loose when I removed the impeller.

If the impeller is OK, shaft is not loose, it has to be a failing motor. How old is it?

I don't know. I have 3 of the older models without the attached controller, so I don't know which one is which anymore. Two in the tank and one gets cleaned and stored until it's time to clean another one, then I swap them out. Is there a way to repair/replace the motor?
