60g Neurosis Stand

Mounted the eb832 and the wire box yesterday. Looks pretty solid. I am going to be designing and printing mounts for the DOS and the head unit, I have a bit of extra room in the controller section for mounting my return pump controller and heater controller. I have not figured out exactly how I want to route wires for those yet. It is getting awfully hard to keep sensor wires separate from power, but I think I have it all planned out. If not I have a contingency plan that involves a ton more work. In the images below you can see the 4 outlets that are being routed to the backside of the tank. The "top" 4 are servicing the sump.

mounted some tubes, and put down a leveling mat for my sump. I'm a bit worried about gluing acrylic myself, and reaaalllly don't want to have to live with my crappy work if I mess up. I guess I need to just bite the bullet and try welding the dosing reservoir. Maybe that will give me confidence to either weld up my sump, or convince me to pay someone else to lol

For those of you in the cube community, any recommendations for manufactures of 60g cubes?

Another custom bracket! This one is almost impossible to explain without being in assembly, so here is a picture of an otherwise average chunk of aluminum. It is a component of retaining the festoon cable.

Installed, Had I really thought it out, a bar with 2 holes to pull the wire against the aluminum extrusion would have worked just fine, but now when the 2 screws are tightened in the back, the wire will be more firmly clamped in place.
Also a space issue is forming, and I think it may take a fair bit of shoe horning to fix it.

sorry for the thumb picture. but the shape of the trident body is much less "tapered" that I designed it in cad, so I have a lot less room to mount my modules. I think I can fit 2, but that doesn't leave much option for expansion. I had designed a box for this in anticipation that it may be an issue, but that box is to home 4 modules. Not only do I not need 4 modules, I also don't have room for that big ol' box.

Thanks all! I'm happy with how it is coming, but wish I had more time to invest! I am leaving my current company, so in 3 weeks I will no longer have access to the ability to modify my solidworks files, or make aluminum brackets over lunch haha! I will have the ability to open and measure the parts through other programs, but I would need to buy solidworks if I intended to continue modifying it. That would cost way more than my whole build so far, so I may sign up for a course at the community college and get a student version instead.... Either way I will have to cruise for a while with what I have.

The next big thing to do is build the sump. I can get the acrylic cut to size locally for around 90$, or the lowest I have had it quoted was 500$. No way in hell I'm spending 500$ on a tiny little sump, so I will probably buy 2 sets of acrylic parts and hopefully have a decent technique before I build the second one....

Bummer!! Well maybe the next job will have something you can "work" with. Between your job description and the "Remove before flight" flag, I think I can maybe guess where you were working at. I ran into the same situation which is why I do everything with SketchUp. FREE! Not the most technical of CAD programs but you can't beat the price. I don't know how it does for 3D printing though.

The remove before flight tag is definitely related to my new job, but my current job is for a valve manufacturer lots of top secret "government work" gets done on my lunch breaks

Well I went ahead and printed a bracket but unfortunately I didn't take enough measurements. At least I'm only out 4$ worth of plastic I guess lol

I actually need the trident to slip under it, so almost the entire "platform" of the bracket needs to go. Not that hard to fix the design, but once I do that, it will get much more difficult to print lol. Only have a week left with solidworks haha

Girlfriend was out of town so I took the opportunity to use her desk to build an acrylic test. I guess not really a test because I wanted the end product to work, but it is just decorative. It is an enclosure for an old clock I got at an estate sale and have slowly restored. This isn't my first time welding acrylic, but I definitely don't consider myself "good" at it yet. Seams turned out okay, quite a bit of bubbles on the edges that I didn't sand as long. The big test for me was using the thin acrylic cement, as previously I have only used the thicc stuff. Overall it will work just fine for this purpose as I will probably paint the seams anyways. Next test will be my dosing and trident waste containers. Might try that tomorrow.
