So I need advice setting up another tank. My anemones are getting too big for my mixed reef and would also probably appreciate a lower flow home to live in. I bought a used 48x24x12 glass tank that has two pre-drilled 2" holes in the bottom back corners. I'll post a pic later tonight.

What's the best way to set it up for a quiet drain/return? I currently using dual durso style drains in two overflows in my 120g. Can I use a similar style set up with this tank without the overflow? Or am I better off putting in an acrylic overflow around the drain? The biggest plus I see in the later option is preventing a wondering anemone from being sucked into the inlet. But I've seen stores use an "overflow-less" system, and I like the idea of avoiding the stagnant areas in the overflow.

If you plan on keeping nems, I'd opt for a piece of acrylic around the overflows to prevent any chance of them being sucked into the drain. You could always plug the holes and add an external overflow if you'd like to avoid giving up your corners. If you were to get a couple pieces of glass to silicone in place over the holes and have access to a glass hole saw it would be relatively inexpensive.

Hey man, this is Bryan, I think I talked to you at the last meeting. When I had this same exact 4x2x1 setup, I had a single durso on the right side, and it was super quiet, basically silent. I put two reducers on both sides of the 2 inch bulkheads, one a little bigger for the drain. It worked great.

Thanks for the input guys... Bryan, how did you have your inlet flow designed in this tank? I'm planning on adding and MP10 or a couple Koralias for extra flow, but did you just do the black
Loc-line flexible tubing?

Yup, I had the one 3/4" return, which split into a Y with loc-line for the return.
