My husband recently set up our 60g tank and stand that we bought from PetSmart. It is in our carpeted bedroom which is on the first floor. The two legs at the front of the stand have sunk far into the carpet while the back two have not, so I think they may be sitting on a tack strip. The tank leans forward HARD! It is not level at all and the water misdistribution is very obvious. The tank itself sits at the very front of the stand with absolutely no room to move it forward. I am terrified that the tank will tip over, the stand will collapse under the pressure in the front, or the tank will begin to leak and flood our apartment. My husband, however, is not concerned whatsoever. What can I do? So I put wedges under the front two legs? Do I drain and move it? Please help me, my anxiety is driving me crazy!!!

I personally would drain and move. Move the stand out from wall a couple inches so you can slide the tank into the center of the stand. Maybe throw some plywood under neath as well to help level.

You're likely on the tack strips right against the wall. Move it out a few inches and try again. Get some composite shims just in case it's your floor.

But do it now before you have livestock to complicate the drain process

Yup, it's on a tack strip. Had the problem with my first 72 gallon bowfront I bought. Drain, move out 3-4 inches, slide tank back on to stand properly, refill. You will want room to get to back wall of tank though. Leave enough room to fit your arm behind it.

Your putting more pressure on the frt of the tank glass & it is not sitting correctly on the stand. as others have said you need to get this fixed ASAP.

You can't enjoy the tank if you're terrified of it. Even if it never fails or falls.

The fix couldn't be easier. Just add a line to the honey-do list ;Shamefullyembarrased

Yes, move the tank ASAP, if I saw my tank leaning that much I would be scared to walk in front of it just because of the fact that I could possibly compress the carpet enough to send it tumbling..... drain it move it and refill it. I would personally leave about 3-4 inches between the stand and the wall, leaves good room to reach behind tank when its centered on the stand.

As others have said move it out from the wall and get it level. I would do this immediately, that is leaning badly. The structural integrity of the stand is compromised with that kind of a weight shift.
