Upgrading to a 60x24x24 SPS dominant (eventually) tank. I am asking for LED lighting recommendations, please. Price is not first criteria. Quality, PAR and coverage. Yes, I know T5’s but not an option. I thank you in advance for the recommendations and links. I have watched the extensive BRS series.

Radions has the clean look...

The best options are to go with a nice module light with supplemental LED bars or a larger panel style light like orpheks.

This is the part where I would normally recommend T5/ LED hybrid, but you already shut that down! :)

I would see if there are any Photons that could fit that area. 60 inches is not an easy size for larger panels. In full disclosure, I do not use LED and this is only recommended since therman uses them and has the best acropora under LED that I have ever seen.

@therman how many Photon 50 V2 for 60”x24x25 tank would you recommend?

I have the same dimensions and went with two Orphek Icons to start. I fully intend to need to add two 60" reef bars and or maybe another icon and run them perpendicular. I'll evaluate as I go. I also wanted reflectors not lenses.

I would advise against the RB photons as you would need two parallel banks of lights and they also don't come in 60 inch lengths. You'll have a mess of cords and lights.

I've seen these in action at therman's house in person and have also seen Orpheks in person on larger systems.

Orpheks are nice and clean and I like the panel style leds. Reefi 2.0 are going to smoke xr30s at half the price and are clean too.

Thanks. Checked out the Reefi 2.0. Seems like the way to go
Just be aware that the Reefi 2.0's are fairly blue. If you want a bluer spectrum, Reefi 2.0 is perfect. If you like a whiter-spectrum, go with Duo Extremes.

A couple of quanta bars in addition to reefi would drop some major light on it and reduce shawdows as well. Be careful with reefis though...really strong

Whatever you use just try to cover the tank as best as possible. I use 2-Photon 50 v2+ units along with 3 kessil a360x units on mg 60”x24”x24”. The kessils are purely for aesthetic shimmer which scratches that itch. The reef breeders do the heavy lifting and provide excellent coverage, spread, fill, and evenness. I use the provided legs and get it up to 12” over the water, and the Kessils are between them using aquatic life mounting plates that articulate perfectly into the reef breeders heat sinks.

Yep coverage is crucial, and PAR. None of that measly 200-350 PAR that BRS throws around, I have acros and stylos that really took off under 500-600.

Lol “that BRS throws around”

You know those numbers that have been scientifically studied by Dana Riddle and many others. Yeah, those totally suck! :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:
