I have 2 walls to work with in my house for tanks.

Currently have a 72x24x20h 150g mixed reef with about 5 tangs. Could upgrade to a 72x30x24h 220g or even 84x24x24h 210g.

Never had a peninsula but always liked the way they looked when I saw them at a LFS. So with the spacing I have for a peninsula I can't go too much longer than 48 and can go a max of 38 wide. So 48x38x25 peninsula.

Looking to do a 38"-40" tall stand. Cost is pretty close for all of them.

So just curious if you would suggest bigger longer tank or do a smaller tank but it would be peninsula.

I had a 120 Peninsula 4x2x2 and I'd recommend going widest that you can

gugjr....just clarifying...so when you look head on you feel it should be wider than 24? On mine the 48 would be the long sides and front view would be 38.

Correct, I would have prefered to go 48x30/36x24 or 48x48x21

72". Allows swimming room and length and easy access for maintenance

Yeah, I made mine too tall (30 inches) and too narrow (22 inches), but 6 feet long is perfect. It looks sweet, but think about the constraints it will cause.

Thanks all for your input. Seems most like the 72x30x24. I'm still leaning towards the peninsula since I've never done it. I guess I'm a bit bored of the standard look. Lol!

I agree my 220 is 82 long, 24 depth and 30 tall. Wish the height and depth was switched

I have a 48x36x24 peninsula and love it! It is so different depending what angle you are looking from and the 36 depth creates lots of space for aquascape without looking like a wall of rocks.

That's what I didn't like about my 4x2 no and bed really so it looked like a pile of rocks in the middle. No real depth even with my sps colony grow out

I have a 4'x2'x2' standard 120g peninsula. My particular space (and spouse) would not allow anything longer than 4'. Obviously the extra foot or two opens options up some fish options. But honestly if I were to do it again, I would have gone wider, which the space could have taken. 36" in width would just open things up for aquascaping.

Having said all this, I absolutely love the peninsula tank and don't think I'd ever have another one that wasn't. But that's just me.

For me, the goal is always to do the widest/deepest tank I can.

Since you are a bit limited on length, maybe think about bumping the height up. 30” is tall but still easy enough to work with. 36” high gets to be a pain to deal with. Just make sure there’s good access on both sides.

I have a 72x30x24 penninsula in my basement right now. It's great!

Depends how a peninsula would look on what wall you putt it on. But you could get more viewing angles from it which would be cool.

Wider for sure. Remember you lose about 1/3 of your perceived depth from the side. So take that into account with aquascaping. The walls of the rock will look a lot steeper and you have to take that into account on both sides. Head on my peninsula 190 looked pretty good with gradual slopes with the aquascaping. But looking on both sides it looked like I had to shear rockfaces with corals hanging on for dear life. Looked kind of goofy.

you had me a peninsula..
I dont have one yet but my 2 cents for what ever there worth.
I saw if 6' is the longest then go 36" wide or even bump it up to 40" to ad a bit more h2o volume.
but a 6x3x2 would look amazing!
let us know what you decide.

i wish i could do a 6x3x2...but sadly if I'm doing peninsula it can only be a 48x38x25. i could go a bit more on the height...maybe 27-28. i have to see how much extra that would be. not sure if it's worth it since you usually buy by the foot correct? they have a standard 48x36x25 for which they are willing to go 38 wide without an extra charge.
