7-legged brittle star

I have just found a 7-legged starfish in my tank. I have one serpent star and 1 brittle star that have both been in the tank for 8 years and 4 years respectively. Suddenly at lunch today I see legs sticking out from behind the baffle . I pulled the baffle off and voila!! another starfish that appears to be a brittle. I see that they can reproduce asexually, but the 7 legs has me a bit confused. I don't know how to post pictures here, but if someone will explain that to me I will post one. I have him separated right now and want to make sure it is okay to put him back in the main tank or should I put him in the nano tank by himself.
Thanks in advance for all help and advice on this guy. he is really cute and if not a menace I would like to keep him.

Ophiuroidea, harmless. They do not get as large as other common brittle stars.
