They found each other!

About 3 months in - Dino infestation! It was actually way worst than this, I don't have that picture anymore. The dino was defeated by a 4 days black-out while dosing phosphate and nitrate.

After 7 months - The system seems very stable. Spots of coraline showing up on rocks, powerheads, and back wall. Hair algae no longer present.

This was my first attempt at a marine aquarium. My plan is to learn from my mistakes before starting a much larger tank. I think maybe 6 months to a year from now I'll upgrade to a 200+ gal and turn this 50 into a quarantine tank.
I think it's going pretty well, no one has died, and the corals are growing.
There's one thing I couldn't figure out. This tank has a lot of fish, yet the phosphate is at 0.05-0.08 and nitrate is at less than 0.25. I have no skimmer, basically just a filter sock and a refugium. Maybe the rocks absorbed the nitrate? I give away a handful clump of chaeto every month for the last 2 months.

Beautiful tank! I always like the multiple island setup. Curious what tank that is. Are you planning any SPS or sticking with LPS/softies?

Lol. Soon that single spot of corralline algae will be your nemesis growing all over the glass! Break out the razors.

Just a home made tank. Maybe SPS in about 4 months? I do have a frag of Monti that im holding for a friend.

Yeah haha, they're already on the power heads >.<

Rocks can absorb a ton of phosphate not too sure on nitrate though.

Looks good but think you need more corals!

More corals soon, I'm trying to be really cautious right now haha.
