Hey all,

In a shameless attempt to try to get enough posts to be able to post that I'm looking for a fan in the marketplace, I'm just going to introduce myself and what I do and hope that someone finds it interesting enough to start up a conversation or something.

I’m Nathan and I'm 33 years old. After a car accident in 2004, I was left paralyzed from the chest down. For the last five years, I've been part of a brain computer interface study through the University of Pittsburgh. Here's a collection of videos from my time, so far, as a brain computer interface subject in Pittsburgh, PA. I've been able to do lots of amazing things because of this study and love every minute of it.

For a few years now I've had a 120 gallon African cichlid tank and seven months ago I started a16 gallon biocube reef tank that has been challenging.

Howdy and welcome to R2R!

Dude! Way to make the most of your situation and be on the front lines of new technology! Thank you for being an inspiration and laying groundwork for those to come after you!!

Thanks guys. I do have a few different issues, I don't have time to list them all right now. The most recent and most pressing is my flow issues.

I've been looking for anyone that might have an IceCap 1K Gyre Flow Pump that they no longer need, and would let go of cheap. In December I bought the Icecap 2K with dual Wi-Fi controller for my 16 gallon biocube because I just assumed that it could be run at a low intensity. Then I found out that using their Hydros app the lowest power it can run at is 25%, which Coralvue said is the minimum operating speed so it won't stall or anything while running and they also said that speed is what the manufacturer calls 10%. It was fine for a few months because I had 2 large rocks that seemed to break up the flow enough that everything was okay. But a couple weeks ago I removed one of the large rocks because I felt like it was just too much rock for 16g. Now I can't run the 2k at its lowest setting for more than a few minutes every couple hours without making everything in the tank unhappy.
I don't want to give up on using the controller. I got it because I'm quadriplegic and would like to have as much control over the tank using my tablet as I can without maxing out credit cards to run an Apex system. The 1k is rated for 1000gph and the 2k is obviously 2k but Carlos said he wouldn't say that the 1k was really only 1/2 as powerful as the 2k.

Even if it isn't exactly 1/2 as powerful I'm hoping it can run slow enough so I can get some variance with that sine wave flow without blasting everything. For now the filter pump and a Koralia nano are running full-time and the Icecap 2k is on for a few minutes every couple hours to kick up everything that is settling places.
