Upgraded our 57 gal non reef-ready tank to this Oceanic 70 gal tech tank in cherry. Purchased from our LFS in Clayton, NC a few years ago. Decided to go with a black substrate this time. Love the color and the way it makes the corals pop. I think it hides the dirt of the substrate a bit better than the light colors but others disagree and that certainly is one's prerogative. We had our local cabinet maker do solid maple legs replacing the MDF ones on the stand. My tankmaster also reinforced the area between the legs to prevent any movement whatsoever.

Nice plumbing work, I like the dark theme

The only drawback with the back sand is, some grains get stuck to the glass cleaning magnet.

The Hawaiian aragonite is no where near as bad as the Tahitian Moon. I made a disaster years ago with the white sand in our half round. Scratched the daylights out of it. Rule of thumb - need to stay away from the substrate and be very careful with any magnet glass cleaner!

You are so right about that. I have put a couple of scratches on my glass. I have actually gotten more scratches for my Veg clip, and the veg clip gets no where near the bottom.

I've got a 120 Tech, they're very nice tanks. Best of luck with the build.

This pic is from a few years ago, back in the day when I had 18 clams in there.

This photo is from a year or two ago. I lost all of my clams to what I call the "clam plague". I would lose one a day. It was crazy. All parameters were spot on. We have no idea what happened to them.
