700g 17ft 180° view Reef Lounge

Got my final piece of the puzzle delivered Friday for my Reef Lounge. I have a 225g Redsea system, Crystal Dynamics 325g and my Innovative marine 10

0g lagoon/frag system going up soon once I get the custom sump made by GEO.

Me too. I'm usually a bare bottom guy buy may put sand in the lagoon. We shall see lol

As I talk about in my build thread, the benefits of BB tanks are undeniable. That being said, I just can't do it. I love sandy substrates. They just look more natural in my little slice of the ocean. Plus, I like a lot of sand dwelling critters. To each their own, though. I'm sure that, whatever you decide on, will be right for you and nothing short of stunning!

Yeah I like a lot of flow to keep detritus suspended and into the overflow and just the overall simplicity of it. However when I do see sandy bottom systems I always think about setting a system with sand for the aesthetic and for certain fishes that require sand.

Placed my order in with GEO for this AFR fleece roller sump. I had it made like the 60" I have for my 260g DT. 12 weeks lead time so it gives me some time to plan the aquascape and will most likely have sand in this system so i can keep fishes that require sand.

I run 2 MP60s at full bore and 2 gyre 450's. No sandstorms. I use Tongan Mesoflake.

It's made by Tropic Eden. Now, I will say that, when I run them on nutrient export mode overnight, it pushes it to the sides a bit. I tend to my sandbed regularly anyway, and have critters that turn it over so it doesn't really bother me too much. Individual results / opinions may vary.

How big of a system are you running with all that flow and sand substrate? Just curious I’ve always done BB but I agree with others sand does look so natural and I’m contemplating it for my new build.

It is a 180 DT, 260 TSV

You mount the 60s on the sides? I was thinking of putting 2 60s on the sides of my 260. Ended up with 5 40s. 4 on the back and one on the side towards bottom of tank.

Yeah, the 60's are mounted on the sides and then I have two gyres mounted vertically on either side of the overflow to get laminar flow behind the aquascape. I don't keep the 60's at max for long periods, though. They cycle intensity.
