Ooookay, since I had no clue what was the reason of polyp bailout, I did the first thing you have to do in such a situation: ensure the basics are in check.

Guess what? After re-calibration with (expired

) Salifert fluid, my refractometer shows 31-32ppt ;Facepalm

Have no idea if this could be the reason of polyp bailout, but that's something I can fix.

Latest FTS this year. Well, at least my sand is snow white, thanks to diamond goby

Current params:

kH: 10
Ca: 480
Mg: 1550
PO4: 0.4ppm
NO3: 30ppm
Salinity: 37ppt

So, here is my New Year's resolution: I will pay much more attention to basic params and will make this tank truly amazing

Look at this pH chart ;Facepalm It's 8.14 to 8.40 while nobody's at home, even without kalk or kH dosing!

Still experiencing LPS polyp bailout for some reason

Actually, I've lost most of my LPS corals already.

Have no clue what's happening. Before giving up, I'd like to see ICP analysis of my water. Never tried it before, since it's not practical to wait for the results up to 3 weeks and 100% WC is actually cheaper. But this time, I want to know the truth

Current params I'm aware of:

Temp: 26.9C (Profilux)
Salinity: 35ppt (Refractometer)
pH: 7.87 (Profilux)
kH: 9.2 (Salifert)
Ca: 450 (Salifert)
Mg: 1455 (Salifert)
NO3: 30 (JBL)
PO4: 0.2 (JBL)

As I can see, soft corals do just fine in my tank while stony coral struggle and slowly die. It's might be due to unstable chemistry or some pollutants, have no idea. What if that's calcification-only issue?

To check this hypothesis I've got two baby RBTA ans some zoas. Should they die, I will go FOWLR

ICP results are in.

Nope, reefing isn't that easy

I've got elevated Aluminium (due to phosphate remover, most likely), low Iodine and Iron. And that's it

So, my testkits are accurate enough and water params are just fine.

Still experiencing polyp bail-out, though

Stony corals just dying, slowly.

I'm in desperate need of some fresh ideas. What I'm missing?

ICP reds and my thoughts:

Slightly high Aluminum - not a concern
Very low Iodine and Iron - may be carefully dosed to make fuge more effective, probably not a reason for polyp bail-out
Slightly high Lithium - not a concern
Very high phosphates - will drop eventually, it's not the issue I'm looking for

I'm disappointed, there are nothing to blame

Have no idea what to do next to stop LPS corals from dying.

Current FTS.

After losing the majority of my corals, I've lost almost all my fish to some bacterial disease I've got with a new fish, yellow longnose butterflyfish. Four chromises and a tang, that's what I left with.

Tank looks... decent, but empty
