Mixed reef, just trying to figure if my flow is enough or not.
2 pumps equalling about 1300gph?
When figuring out flow, do you add what your return pump is doing?

Acans
Duncans
Mushroom
Polypt

All depends on what species of corals you plan to keep. Think of it like this. I have a 90 gallon with 1000gph return pump. You have a 72 bow so I say about 800-1000 gph return and at least 700gph for each circulation pump for a mixed reef. If you plan to keep sps then you need stronger circulation pumps.

the rate of flow from your return pump depends on several factors, 1 what height are you pumping water to, 2 how many 45 degree elbows are there in the return line and 3. what kind of pump is it. you can usually find this on the spec sheet or online about the rate of return . the 1300 gph i`m guessing is from powerheads?. dividing that by 72( the tank size) gives you a 18x turnover rate, that maybe enought for what you currently have in your tank.
