I'm planning on building a stand for my 180 gallon and I was wondering about cabinet doors.
If anybody has done this, could you share some pictures of your design? I'm really only looking for two doors, but, for whatever reason, I'm not sure this will work out. I'm curious on how others did their doors, and how they executed the build.
Thanks in advance!

I built a 180g peninsula. It has 5 doors and a slide-out at the wall end. There are all kinds of ways you can to what you need. One way is hingeless with strong magnets embedded in the stand and the door. Another way is to make them so that they slide side to side and lift off of a track. And then of course you can use hinges. It's whatever you want your out come to look like as well as how it functions. The reason I have five doors is because one is at the side/end for easy access to Supply location that I set up as well as to pull the sump out if I ever need to. The other four doors are actually two by two and there was only one center nailor. If you are not good at making doors yourself you can also order them from any home store or cabinet shop.
Here is a look at my frame and then finished.

I made mine with drawer slides for several reasons:
1. Space between my dining room table and the stand.
2. Did not want to deal with the doors in the way when working in the sump area.
3. Cause I think they look extremely cool. :D

You guys are awesome. I thought about the drawer sliders, but i don't have the clearance on one side of the tank.
I like the magnet idea though. I might look into that.

What size sump were you guys able to fit through your doors?

Since I have a side door I put a 55g in for my sump but could also fit a 75g because my stand is tall enough. However I'm happy with the 55g. It gives me enough extra room for dosing containers, a 20 gallon tank for ATO turned sideways , plus enough headroom above the tank for pulling my skimmer in and out.

I agree; that is extremely cool! BRAVO!!

I'm researching a new build. My idea was to build a 3-sided skirt around the stand. When in place, it is aesthetically pleasing and hides all of the "behind the scenes" equipment. When I have work to do, I slide the entire piece out of the way, exposing the stand completely and giving me access to everything from all sides. I would also build a matching crown for the top.

Good idea
They are super strong too each set will hold 17 lbs so if you have two sets that's 34 pounds. Even if you only put two sets on each door ( they come 4 to a package for 12.99) x2 doors that's under $30 total.

That's a really cool idea.

Yes, I will be changing all my hinges out to these magnets myself. The doors just tend to get my way sometimes. I've pictured below the type of drill bit you will need

That's a nice set. What'd they cost you?
