720 gallon Miami Build

What's worse in ur mind a tank full of bubbles or something that will eventually grow coralline and u won't be able to see?
Maby urs will be different then mine but a penductor works by sucking in all the surrounding water and the pressure from the exiting water meeting the surrounding water is what gives it the 5-10 times flow.
If it is to close to the top of the water it will be sucking in air so u won't get the full benefits of the penductor and u will also have micro bubbles.

No I know. It's the long black tube. I'll try it. If it's too in the way I may have to take them off. Without taking into account the eductors I'm running 40k gph. Multiply that by 5 amd it's a lot of flow. My other pump is also a Vectra L1 which won't have the power to push its two exits with them connected. If it would I would use that to pump the eductors near the ends. We'll figure it out :-) the Eductors are indeed the same. I also call them penductors!

Your insight is much appreciated!! I'm terrified I end up with so much flow the sand will be flying everywhere lol

How thick is each glass brace on the inside bottom and and how many are on top of each other

Find out tomorrow from Pedro as we should be adding water!! I think I may have posted the answer back there somewhere :-)

Yes but you told me the top is 2 strips of 3/4 and i think you said the bottom was like 5" im not sure if thats right i will be bracing my bottom in a few week i may do 2 strips of 1/2" each or 3 strips of 3/8

I believe the bottom is 5" but I'll make sure to ask Pedro. I wish I got in my own tank :-( too tight a squeeze for me up there :-(

I do.
Let's brake it down tho as I could be wrong.
U are using the 1 inch sea swirls correct? I believe they can handle up to 2000 gph does that sound correct?
U are using the hammer head on it for both of them correct? So what's ur est gph for each sea swirl? Say 1000 for poops and giggles the penductors then multiply that by 5 to 10 times the flow so that's 5000 gph min in something rated for 2000.
I'm the beginning when the swirl is new u will not notice anything but as it wears in the o rings will start to go bad and the sea swirl will eventually break.
Now I'm saying what I just said there have been one or two people I have talked to on this form that say they do not have a problem with using a penductors on sea swirls.
But I have called sea swirl and asked them about it and they said the exact thing I just typed above and that they do not recommend it.
Sea swirls will last forever if used properly but if u look into the people that say they didn't last for them and it was a waste of money it's usually because they used penductors or they did not use the swirls the correct way.
Will ur way work yes it will and u will have amazing flow but for how long? A year two or three at the max? It's ur choice in the end and from someone who has both sea swirls and penductors I would recommend hookim up the penductors on ur return and let the sea swirls do their thing.
Also the penductors have to be about 3-4 inches below the water line or u will have an onslaught of micro bubbles. Looking at ur photos I do not believe they are low enough.
Hope I helped
Justin

I am not sure I agree with this statement, the seaswirls are rated for X amount of flow and when you add a penductor to outlet it will increase the flow inside the tank by taking in water from around the penductor. It will not increase the actual flow going through the seaswirl.

Thx for chiming in. I think another issue for the seaswirls may be the back pressure the eductor produces. He was also referring to the hammerhead more so than the eductor. Hammerhead is 6000 gph where as each seaswirl can only handle 1100 gallons or so.

Love this! I am in Miami also. Waiting for an invite to see this bad boy once it is done!

Keep you posted. VIP water gets here at 3-4 and I have to drive to FLL at 11:20 to receive more rock and sand from Tampa Bay saltwater. Richard helped get it done for me. Much appreciated!

Coming along, great build.
