Most all araganite sand will look white. The only thing that matters in your case is the grain size. Larger grains will be harder to blow around. I like Caribsea special grade but if you have lots of flow you could use crushed coral. One thing I do is if the flow pushes the fine sand away I will just add a small scoop of crushed coral or even calcium reactor media over the exposed bare bottom in that area. It won’t be uniform but it will hide the exposed glass.

I have Caribsea Special grade, my Gyre 1k on 10% will clear the area at the front of my tank overnight. I got a handful of live rock rubble and laid there, problem solved with the added benefit of having more live rock and an interesting place for crabs and whatnot to hide.

Yeah bud. I agree with everyone else. Special grade is defiantly the way to go. That’s what I have been using for a decade. It looks good and it’s perfect for gobies and will stay put in higher flow

Sugar sized sand is a poor choice for a high flow reef tank .... one would think that the LFS would know that! I’ve been using the special grade reef floor sand for decades and it’s a good balance. Coarse enough that it won’t blow around (although it will still move around) and is fine enough for sand sleeping wrasses.

Thank you all so much @Montiman @GaryE @Spencerssparks13 and @ca1ore

I’m gonna order a big bag of dry special grade to replace my current sand. I’ll rinse it really good before putting it in my tank.

I removed all the old fine sand and put in new special grade on part of the tank. My Yellow Coris Wrasse slept in it that night and it is so much more stable when powerheads blow.

Thank you all so much!
