72x30x18 DIY build thread

Today's update , dinos were beat back pretty good.

Vacced the goni on accident and made it angry whoops.

Cleaned glass and letting it drain to the 5 micron sock . Looking solid back to normal. Now how to keep phos from bottoming but not going to high. Less gfo?
That's Epic. Honestly if it was me I'd wait until dinos are completely gone. Continue to floss water and clean up surfaces and get your skimmer back in removal mode to help remove nasties from water column. I wouldnt do anything else until you know water and tank is clean from dinos and excess nutrients in water column. In a couple weeks after it settles see where Phosphates sit. If too high then you could look at a minimal daily gfo cycle to control:)

Looking much better. Torches are a little upset probably the no phos for awhile lucky that I didn't lose them. Nems are enjoying the higher N

Already passed... No clue. No new introductions in a month. I wouldnt expect disease.

Sorry to see this....how many female anthias?

How much are you feeding now?

They need to eat a lot, if the females were getting mean to him they could have bullied him into starvation.

1 female, that was a thought... starvation, but he looked semi healthy...

feeding 3x a day at least

emerald entree + powers to suppliment + calanus

pellets

seaweed for tangs

Looking good in here Nate. Wish I could help with the fish. My first impression was likely stress from all the shenanigans. My fish hate when I mess with my light schedule. @MERKEY probably nailed it.

It's hard to say for sure. I'd watch the female and make sure she is getting enough food as well.

You may want to add some other frozen foods into the mix.

I know the emerald entree mix has a little of everything but it's good to have a variety of foods.

The fish was breathing slowly, but very deeply. Probably too late, but I always give freshly dead fish a FW dip to screen for flukes (but you need a microscope to see the smaller fluke species). Fluke infestations can fester for months/years and not always cause acute death.

Crud that's really good advice Jay. I unfortunately can't do that this time around. He's already gone.

Good news is other fish all accounted for in AM. Double confirmed female ate and has tons of energy.

Thinking about it more we did have to travel for that funeral so there was a 3-day period where fish were not fed.

Then the dinos with the blackouts probably caused eating issues. Concluding possible starvation. Regrettably.

Need to find a solution to feed what I'm not home. I know that there's a lot of automatic feeders available on the market. Need to find one that's right.

There's always something to improve on.

Some positive splam

Nepthea is happy again , always a good indicator of water quality for me.

Torches extending back out

And acros are moving slowly but surely to touchdown on the rock.

Nate tbh I'm not sure why or how my tank hasn't crashed yet. I broke every rule up front and haven't done anything with it besides a 10% water change in 6 months lol. So when it does eventually crash I can't be too mad I guess lol
Man epic things are happening in your tank. I had a feeling nasties in your water column was playing tricks on your tester. Whatever your doing keep doing it and don't stop keeping surfaces clean of dinos. Keep an eye on it everyday and don't let P bottom out again. It's picking up some in water column but I have a feeling there's alot more being processed by goodies on the rest of your surfaces. Don't be surprised if your tank doesn't totally explode with coraline. Watch your alk and cal in next few weeks. It should start around your corals and spread pretty quickly;)

I'll be posting brother daily. I can't stay away.

Mud is here :) package leaked a lil it seems. Will get it open here and post some pics

Did the daily vac, Dinos are more concentrated in certain areas than before. (like they were strong, then weaker, now missing in some spots, but back to strong in certain areas)

Overall numbers down I think, but targeting certain Zoas, the Green Monti caps and newer rock. I think as the corals get healthier again after lack of light we will be in business...

Coralline spots are taking off as you said @LRT
