72x30x18 DIY build thread

Those are always fun changing.

I actually remove my snails out of the bottom.
I have one set of 5 micron I got for dinos. I use intermittently to make the tank "look" better.

So I just got some more sets and going to test a 1micron per @LRT

I got those low microns to help polish water as well. A pita to turn inside out.

I'm not so sure about the 1 micron yet. I have a feeling it may take alot more out than good I'd stick to the 5 micro for now personally.

What about staggering 5 micron with 1 micron that'll get me what... 3 microns lol jkjk

Being a white boy and everything I'd have to smash that at least 3X.

Hahaha JK man but honestly I'm not sure the 1 micron does anymore harm than good to the water column.

My bad I really need to stop clowning around! I did get some and have used them but see absoloutely no difference besides they clog alot faster and my water got cloudy when I forgot to remove the 1 micron after a few days recently so idk but I'm probably not going to use them anymore personally.

As the fortunes hit me, highly considering a present to myself as the display refugium in my first tank ever connecting to the main tank.

Going to need to load the tank up first with more fish. MOAR bio load (since i will want lights on majority of the time)

5 microns all day then for me :)

My waters always clear tbh... Still wish I did the low iron glass on my view panels.... Next tank notes :)

Everyone I've talked to has said the low iron is not worth the extra money and I compared several tanks prior to my purchase and was only about 50% correct on choosing which type of glass a tank had. Save the money on the low iron and build the tank bigger.

Testing is "fairly accurate" not as accurate with timed testing on like others have had. but ill take this.

KH= Alk

Its dumping a little in here and there, keeping us topped off.

Cost to set up and light a 36 inch tank if you purchase everything....

Wowsa. Thats me going no overflow box and doing the two herbies i think.

Few weeks back this hammer was down to almost skeleton. On these 3 heads . Almost patched itself back up.

Nice!

Old picture for reference (not at the worse recession point either)

I know we've talked about this before. Can you achieve a Herbie overflow without a box by ....

1. having a main drain hole with a gate valve
2. An emergency drain drilled slightly higher on the tank/putting a 45 on it and having a slow trickle.

Or is a box easier... Plumbing is hurting my head

Tank dimensions: 36" x 9.4" x 8.3

Not sure about the plumbing but I’m questioning those tank dimensions
