@evolved I see many of your posts about wrasses and thinking maybe you ran into this before. Do you have any info to help me determine what to do?

This is a clear case of pop eye. Not sure what to do so I’ll let others weigh in on it but for now, maintain good water quality and a good diet.

Wait.... let me check Bob Fenner’s book. I don’t see much you can do about it quickly, except maintaining a good diet and water quality and maybe soaking food in SeaChem General Cure.

Thank you so much for the reply. I feed live blackworms and frozen mysis. I'm gonna add selcon to the food for more vitamins and watch for improvement. If not I will need to decide if I try and get him out and treat or do it in the display tank.

When I quarantined I fed mysis soaked in general cure and focus. He ate that really well so I think I will do that again if needed in a few days. With the binder (focus) I don't think too much of the antibiotic will be in the water column. And what is would be taken out by carbon and protein skimmer.

Hopefully if this assumption is wrong someone will let me know.

One eye popping is usually an injury. Watch for cloudiness within the eye. Sometimes Lymphocystis will form behind the eye causing the bulging.

Best to treat the fish's overall health by mixing vitamins with food to support the fish's immune system. Beta Glucan is fantastic in that role and especially for dealing with Lympho. Mix with food and can add Focus if a thicker mix is desired.

For treating eye infections, Erythromycin is the med to have on hand.

Thank you so much. It does not look cloudy yet,

I have vita-chem and selcon but neither look like they have beta glucan. I’ll see if I can pick some of that up to add to food as well.

I’m gonna also order the erythromycin now, to have just in case I need it.

this guy is a favorite of mine so if I need to take all my scape out to catch and treat him I will.

Yes, and I've never taken any action for it. They always heal back to normal.

Thank you so much. This is good to know.
He is eating well and acting normal. It must not be affecting his depth perception because he has good aim when eating!
I think the eye is starting to look just a little better too.
