75 gal checklist

Hey all,

I am months away from getting my reef-ready 75 gal tank. I am not a newbie to reefing, but I am a newbie to the larger tanks. I've had nanos and picos for years. A larger tank feels a bit overwhelming and I want to make sure I am getting everything I need, plus figure out approx how much I'd be spending..

I will be breaking down my JBJ 28 gal nano once my 75 is up, so I have some things already to use.
I am not sure yet on what kind of fish I want to have yet, but my clown pair and six-line will be moving to the 75 once its ready.

Any help would be great! Let me know if I am missing anything or if you have suggestions with anything.. that'd be great!

I need to get:
- Standard 75 gal reef-ready tank with overflow
- Stand
- 10-20 gal sump -size pending depending on what stand I get-(will be made my my dad and I)
- Lighting-- No idea, suggestions that's not too terribly expensive to host most corals?
- Sand- how many pounds would I need for this size tank?
- LR - Does the pound per gallon rule still apply?

Things I have from my nano:
- Aquamaxx Skimmer HOB
- approx 20 lbs of LR
- Test kits
- Refractometer
- Salt
- RO/DI Filter
- 2 Hylor wavemakers
- Heater- but will have to get one for bigger tank

I feel like I am missing something from my checklist..

Welcome To R2R, congratulation on the upgrade

-Lighting remember by now not later again. I have to Hydra 26 hd on my system and the really do the job, they replaced a orbit marine
-it depends of how deep of a sand bed you are looking to use, I went with a shallow bed at 1" and I used 30 lbs
-yes and no, your live rock in like a filter so the more you have the less you are relaying on filteration
+good heater
+controller later on
+ doser later on

Yes 1-2 pounds of LR is still the rule BUT it doent need to purchased live at first, Id buy mostly dry and seed with the LR you already have.

a 10 gal sump isnt going to make much of a difference... 20 is better but not great. If your building the stand why not build it to fit a decent sized sump?

thanks! I meant I'd be building the sump.. not the stand. I am past the editing time frame for me to clarify that in the first post.. sorry!

If I can go bigger sump in the stand, I will go big as I can at least
