75 gallon fowlr tank

Ok so I decided to instead setting up another 75 gallon reef I would set up a fowlr tank. I am trying to decide on a good stock list I know I should start with least aggressive fish first. what are good peaceful fish to start with? A side question do I need to run a skimmer while it is cycling?

Running a skimmer during cycling will only pull water out of the tank (or if you are cycling with shrimp/food it can impede the cycle). As for the 75 gallon FOWLR there are some cool smaller butterflyfish that would be great for that tank.

I would also look into Fairy and Flasher Wrasses as well as Halichoeres Wrasses

75 gals is a nice size for a FOWLR. I've always liked butterfly fish for a mellow FOWLR - no need to worry about them eating your coral! There are lots of very nice choices. Add in some anthias and/or wrasses for more movement.

I would love to throw a dwarf angel as well I like the color of the coral beauty. Didn’t think a 75 would be big enough for anthias. I certainly don’t want anything to aggresive.

You can make a 75 work with anthias, carberryi or bartlett for example. 1 male, 2 females. It's best to feed them at least 2x per day though, so there is that.

I like the coral beauty and potters, they are both very nice. A chrysus wrasse would add small movement as well. So many fish in the sea!

Fowlr tanks are whole different thing I love my reef tanks but you get to keep a wider variety of fish for fish only tanks I was even considering just keeping a pet type fish in there like a small puffer or trigger or even an angler type

There's some nice wrasses that you can get. Lions and eels are great if you like the feeding experience.
You dont need to have the skimmer running since there isnt any organics to skim out until you get/start feeding fish.
If you aren't looking into corals, do you have a section in the sump for macro algaes?

It’s a trigger sapphire 26 it mentions a refugium section but not quite sure it’s big enough to work as proper sized one

so my plans to convert my 75 gallon into a fowlr tank has been compromised. After reading a thread on reef 2 reef( can’t remember what it was about) I went to look over my tank and noticed the back panel extended beyond the left panel by 1/16” of an inch. I pointed this out to my wife and she was looking over the tank and noticed the same thing for the front panel. It maybe nothing but it seems like a flaw that makes me question its structual integrity. Me and my wife decided it would be best to ditch The tank and purchase a new one
