Been contemplating on if I want to share this build or not because I don't want to deal with all the negativity. But decided to anyways.

So recently on a saltwater Facebook page I came across a ray for sale and me and my wife have been tossing the idea around for a few month now. We were gonna have a saltwater pond in the basement then we were just gonna do a tank with a freshwater ray which I got going with some angels a puffer a ghost knife and a few other fish. But when I came across this ray I couldn't resist. It was a good deal and couldn't be passed up. So I turned the tank into a saltwater tank with cycled rock sand and water so it was ready and moved the little guy in. He's the coolest little guy ever. Loves to be pet and hand fed.

and here's another.

Have plans in the future to put in a sump. Currently has 2 mechanical filters running.
What do you all think?

Cute little ray!

I don't know a ton about rays, only that they need open, fine sand, and don't tolerate some medications well at all - but it does appear that your lad is a mature male ... of whatever species he is! (Not one I've seen before!)

Wishing you luck with him.

What I was told is he's a vortez ray which I guess is the same thing as a round ray. From what I understand it's one of the smaller rays. He's definitely a cool lil guy.

I was actually trying to upload a video of him begging for food last night but Tapatalk doesn't allow that it said so I'm trying to figure something else out
Do it through the browser. You can either upload to Youtube and share the link or upload direct.

That is so cool. Do you think you will need a mesh top for Mr Toothless?

Here a couple videos and pics from last night. This first video is of him begging for food after he woke up from a nap
Next is my wife feeding him
He loves to be hand fed. Very social like most rays. And here's just a couple pics of him buried and the tank placement in the house behind the bar

And just throw it in here, here's my other tank across the hall from toothless
