In the process of a new 75 reef build. This tank is special as it is a therapeutic outlet for me and a shared interest with my three young children. Hoping to build a reef bit by bit that can grow and evolve with them. No pressure!
Trying to do this somewhat on the cheap, because, 3 kids! Bought nearly everything from members of the local reefing community. Reduce, reuse, right?
Second hand Oceanic 75 tank from circa 2007. Drilled the back to install overflow box. Oak canopy and stand also came with, in good shape structurally, decided to refinish to waterproof and brighten up.
eshopps eclipse medium overflow box
Herbie overflow plumbing, corrugated 1” drains and 3/4” flex vinyl return
Trigger systems sapphire 26 sump
Sicce silent 3 return pump
Eshopps axiom 160 skimmer
Basic leds came with the tank, saving up for the maxspect 300watt, since I have a 150 on my nano and love it. (Anyone selling?)
planning on live aragonite substrate
80 gal of saltwater from LFS in my garage, jumped the gun on getting water ahead of holiday weekend. Home supply tested high phosphates and didn’t want to wait on RO system. Meanwhile, plumbing and electrical took forever. (Why do I think I can accomplish everything between 10-midnight?)
These are nuts and bolts photos before the fun part!
