Hello Everyone,
I am still pretty new to saltwater, had my 20 gallon for a year now and i would like to get a bigger tank.
Somehow it is very hard for me to find a 90 gallon tank.( living 2 hrs away from the city) It is easier for me to go and buy the 75 gallon from petco right now, my question is i would really like to get a yellow tang and i don't want to upgrade again in a year but can only go with a 48 long. Would he be ok in a 75 gallon or do i need the extra height from the 90 gallon?

Thank you.
Sam

personally prefer the 90g due to the added height, but i am also on the same boat as you. i cannot find a 90g (used) and can find 75 almost anywhere lol. i say get the 75 and call it a day.

The typical 90 gallon is the same plan dims as the 75, just 3” taller, more expensive, harder to find and not included in Petco’s regular 50% off tank sale.

I’m not sure there’s much that wouldn’t be suitable for a 75 gallon tank that would be suitable for a 90 - for the fish that aren’t recommended in a 75 you’d ideally be looking at a 6 foot tank rather than a slightly deeper 4ft one, which are ~3x as expensive.

If you can find one I would personally go with the 90

I had both . Most 75 gal tanks are tempered glass and can’t be drilled and this is why I upgraded from the 75 to the 90 ( to eliminate the canister filter and hob skimmer that kept flooding my hardwood floors .)
