75G Build Thread

Hi Everyone!

Posting this to serve as my build thread over the next couple of months.

This summer I will be starting a 75G Reef with softies and LPS. I’m using this semester to do all of my research until I move into a new place and can set up the tank.

Any comments on this stock list?

Black ocellarus Clowns x2 and BTA
One spot foxface
Dwarf angel (fire or coral beauty)?
Watchman goby+ pistol pair
Royal gramma
Firefish x2
Jawfiah
Yellow or Kole Tang?
Skunk shrimp

The fish marked with question marks are the ones I am unsure about.

Here is also my anticipated equipment list:
2x AI hydra 26
Eheim Jager 150w
Reef octo 150s
Refugium
Mp40 (if i have budget left over), or the tunze DC
Sicce syncra silent 3.0
BRS Gfo and carbon reactors
Tunze ATO

Any and all comments on my stock list or equipment would be much appreciated!

Hello! Happy to see you joined the forums too. It's good your getting your research done (probably the best thing you can do in the hobby for preparation). Your stock list presents as a nice list. personally, I love both fire angels and coral beautys, as well as yellow tangs, and foxfish are most definitely known as scaredy cats which I have to laugh at considering their size. Just wondering if you have any ideas for your clean up crew other than your Skunk Shrimp? If not, I recommend Nassarius Snails, Blue-Legged Hermit Crabs, and Trochus Snails. BEWARE of Emerald crabs if you were considering them as a side note as if they aren't fed properly they have been known to pick at corals and even fish that they can get there hands on. Now I'm not too familiar with the equipment so you should probably seek a little more background info but nothing seems bad. Good luck with the tank!

Thanks for the reply! I love both angels but figured I would choose only one of the species, same with the tangs. Would one dwarf angel, a tang, and a foxface be okay with the others listed or would I be getting crowded?

As far as CUC, I was not aware of the emerald crab issue (had one one my nano reef but didn’t live long enough to see that happen). You listed exactly what I was thinking, a blend of trochus and nassarius. I wanted to avoid hermit crabs since they attack other snails?
